We all love ripe apples or pears, but often accompanied by harvesting unwell back and incredible fatigue.
One company has decided not to trouble themselves collecting fruit, and simply print them. Design company Cambridge Dovetailed produces a 3D printer that prints quite edible "fruit".
The company collaborates with Microsoft Corporation in Cambridge, argues that the printing process takes only a few seconds to print yourself an apple, pear or other fruit there is no difficulty.
Create food by using 3D-printer certainly is a futuristic concept and not everyone today will be delighted with this idea. Print 3D pizza is definitely fun, but always eat steak 3D or 3D pear, maybe not everyone will be happy. Although, if it is tasty and inexpensive, such food can gain popularity.
As the developers say, this technique is designed for chefs, gourmets and all who are interested in creating creative lunches. No special culinary knowledge is required, and the produced fruit organic.
The company uses the method of molecular gastronomy, which has been known for many years as sferifikatsiya (giving fluids spherical shapes).

With this method, liquids may be shaped sphere in two different ways. According to reports, the process was originally developed by Unilever in the 50s, but only in the last decade, this process began to be used in the modern kitchen. One method may be used to form liquids that have a high content of calcium, such as milk , and the other ideally suited for liquids, such as fruit juice or puree, in which almost no calcium.
Although the exact process used Dovetailed, does not reveal, however, we can assume that they are using the second option.
With this method of liquid or fruit puree mixed with a very small amount of a substance called sodium alginate, then quickly put it in a bowl with the dissolved calcium salt. At this stage the juice or puree form a very small spheres are very similar to small fish eggs whose shells keep the contents inside.
Next 3D-printer combines these small fragrant sphere with other spheres of the same or different taste to form individual edible "fruits" that look like the user wants.

Vajva Kalnikayte (Vaiva Kalnikaitė), creative director and founder of Dovetailed, says: "We thought about creating this project for some time. This is the same exciting project for us as an innovative laboratory. Our fruity 3D-printer will open up new opportunities not only for professional chefs, but also for home kitchens. We have re-invented the concept of fresh fruit on request. "
The company claims that with this printer can not only recreate existing fruit, but also come up with their own. "Taste, texture, size and shape of fruit, all settings can be adjusted".
